Two innovative occupiers from The EpiCentre in Haverhill took home honours at the Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards 2025, held at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on Friday night, 10th October.
In a highly competitive category for The West Suffolk Award for Innovation, two EpiCentre-based companies were recognised for their outstanding achievements:
- Aceso Biosciences was named winner of the West Suffolk Award for Innovation. Based at The EpiCentre since 2022, Aceso is at the forefront of stem cell and regenerative medicine research, working towards a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Clark Lu, Chief UK Operations Director, said: “We are thrilled that Aceso has won the West Suffolk Award. It’s very encouraging to me and to our peers in Beijing.”
- 1956 Individuals – the new brand of SKC Studios – received the Highly Commended accolade in the same category. The team, represented on the night by Aubany Swinney, Babita Devi, Rachel Burrows, and Kate Halsted, celebrated their success alongside category sponsor Treatt.
This recognition comes shortly after the company’s AI Innovation Award win at the Business Weekly Awards, highlighting its growing influence in creative technology and AI-driven storytelling.
The landmark awards evening, hosted by Harpreet Kaur, winner of BBC’s The Apprentice 2022, featured speeches from West Suffolk Councillors Cliff Waterman, and Indy Wijenayaka, Peter Prinsley the MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket together with representatives from My WiSH Charity.
Lamia Gaman from Treatt joined the group on stage to present the award, marking another moment of success for businesses growing within the collaborative and entrepreneurial environment of The EpiCentre.
Helen Earl, Centre Manager at The EpiCentre, commented:
“We are absolutely delighted that two of our occupiers have been recognised at this year’s West Suffolk Business Awards. Their success highlights the depth of innovation and talent within The EpiCentre community. It’s a great example of how our collaborative environment enables companies to inspire and learn from one another, driving growth and excellence across a diverse range of sectors.”
