SKC Games Studio, headquartered at The EpiCentre in Haverhill, has won the AI Innovation Category at the 35th Anniversary Business Weekly Awards, held at Queens’ College, in Cambridge on Tuesday 15th September 2025.
The award was presented by Steve Brown of Barclays to Asa Burrows, CEO and Babita Devi, CCO in recognition of its product, 1956 Individuals – a pioneering AI-powered solution enabling businesses to deliver personalised, interactive and ethical AI-driven experiences.
The event showcased the vibrancy of the UK’s tech sector, and being recognised alongside world-class innovators such as Raspberry Pi, Arm, Quantinuum, and CuspAI was truly an honour for Burrows and Devi.
Babita Devi: “This win is so much more than recognition, it’s a reflection of Asa Burrows’ vision, our team’s dedication, and a shared belief that AI can be both powerful and grounded in integrity.
“Being nominated alongside such phenomenal companies was an honour. To take home the award? A moment we’ll never forget.
“Thank you to Tony Quested from Business Weekly – you saw the importance of our ethics-first approach from day one.”
SKC Games Studio stands out for its client-driven, ethical focus and technical innovation. The studio has become renowned for its first AI avatar – Alan Turing, built for the legendary code-breaking site Bletchley Park. Recently, the company signed an NHS contract to help transform patient outcomes and experiences, leveraging its platform’s multi-lingual capabilities and interactive AI avatars. Offices now span Haverhill, Dubai, and South America, a testament to SKC’s global ambition and reach
The evening was more than a celebration; it was a call to action. Guest speaker Sherry Coutu CBE described Cambridge as “The New Palo Alto,” emphasising the UK’s ascent from 13th to 3rd globally for startup entrepreneurship, its leadership in university spin-outs, and disruptive advancements across quantum, medtech, and energy. Yet her message also carried a challenge: for UK innovators to scale up, unlock new sources of capital, and fuel the next wave of global growth.
The EpiCentre’s Centre Manager Helen Earl said; “Congratulations to SKC Games Studio on winning this coveted award amongst such a strong shortlist. The company was among the first to establish its presence at The EpiCentre during the challenging circumstances of COVID in November 2020. Its success is a testament to the team’s hard work, resilience, and dedication, and we are delighted to see their achievements recognised at this level.”
