Joshua Tarrant Trust, the children’s brain tumour charity takes space at The EpiCentre on supportive terms
Children’s brain tumour charity, the Joshua Tarrant Trust, has taken space at The EpiCentre on supportive terms and furthers the centre’s continuing support for local community organisations.
Denise Tarrant who runs the Joshua Tarrant Trust with her husband Sean and a team of trustees and helpers says: “We are most grateful to The EpiCentre for making space available on terms that supported our charitable objectives and allowed us to continue. As we are a not-for-profit organisation it helps us to maximise the funds we raise in supporting the rehabilitation of children who suffer from brain tumours.”
The charity was set up in memory of Denise and Sean Tarrant’s son Joshua who passed away in 2012. “This was not something that was readily available to Joshua when he was little and coming out of treatment,” says Denise Tarrant.
Andrew Bell, Centre manager says: “We are very pleased to be able to help the Joshua Tarrant Trust with space at The EpiCentre. One of The EpiCentre’s core messages is that when a business sets up at the EpiCentre it becomes part of a community and we mean that in the broadest terms. We are not just an office building, we have lots of resources here to share, supporting both the local community and the wider business network.”
The EpiCentre’s support includes local charity REACH, the Citizens Advice Bureau and Withersfield Parish Council in whose parish the centre lies.
The Joshua Tarrant Trust had its big fund-raising event of the year on Friday 2nd August. Its golf day at Stoke-by-Nayland golf course has raised over £90,000 over the years and this year was its 10th anniversary. In overall terms it has raised over £250,000 for the charity through raffles, marathon runner support for the charity, a Fantasy American Football competition, cake stall sales and appearances at the Haverhill Show.
Denise Tarrant comments: “It is lovely to be at The EpiCentre. We had been at a different office in Haverhill for five years but everyone had to vacate as it was going to be demolished. We spoke to Andrew, and he offered us a tour that resulted in our partnership. We never visualised being somewhere like this. It is a really lovely space to work in.”
