ROADFILL WINS GREEN AWARD GONG AT THE BURY FREE PRESS AWARDS

Roadfill Wins Business Awards 2022

Roadfill, one of the companies located at The EpiCentre in Haverhill, has won the Green Award at the 2022 Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards.

The company beat six other companies to receive the gong with its use of plastic waste materials to
lay and repair roads.

The awards presentation noted that: “Roadfill is an innovative company founded by Chrstine Raptaki, who whilst pregnant in 2017, hit a pothole with such force that it caused her waters to break. Determined to make roads safer, Christie developed a method of using waste plastics to repair and lay new roads. This process reduces plastic waste and the bitumen required.”

The judges said that they were looking to celebrate those organisations and individuals who are
transforming their business with a key focus on reducing their carbon footprint.  The award recognises the importance of having green credentials and how a business can take positive steps to help the environment.

Chris Fallon, Sales Manager for Roadfill, said: “We are humbled and grateful to be recognised for
the award from the Bury Free Press recognising the approach that Roadfill is taking to combat waste and carbon emissions to provide a greener more sustainable approach to public highway mobility.”

Andrew Bell, Centre Manager at The EpiCentre, said: “We are thrilled that Roadfill has received the
BFP Green Award and it demonstrates that the space at the EpiCentre is attracting exciting young companies that are pushing the bounds with their innovative research, and are growing into further space in the centre to house their administrative and marketing functions.”

More than 250 business people from across the district attended a sell-out event at the Apex venue in
Bury St Edmunds last Friday night ( for the annual awards ceremony. The awards evening, now in its 11th year, has become one of the region’s most respected and best attended gatherings in the business event calender.

In addition to the BFP awards Roadfill is also up for the most innovative SME with an awards scheme
run by Highways England that will be awarded on the 2nd November.
